Physical Therapy in Addison, TX — recover faster with integrated rehab
Physical therapy here is more than stretches and exercises. We combine expert hands-on rehabilitation with orthobiologic medicine — PRP and BMAC — all under one roof, with one coordinated care team. That means coordinated care, fewer appointments across town, and a plan built around how your body recovers.
Much of Rowena’s work is post-surgical rehabilitation and recovery after motor vehicle accidents (MVA). Whether you’re rehabilitating after surgery, recovering from a car accident, managing chronic pain, coming back from a sports injury, or navigating a federal workers’ compensation claim, our physical therapist Rowena Calleja, PT designs individualized treatment plans built around how your body actually heals — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Why choose Innovare Tx for physical therapy?
Most physical therapy clinics operate in isolation. You see your doctor in one building, get injections somewhere else, and then drive across town for PT — with providers who have never spoken to each other. At Innovare Tx, that fragmented experience doesn’t exist. Our musculoskeletal rehab integrates physical therapy directly with orthobiologic medicine and primary care. Your physical therapist and your medical provider work side by side, adjusting your plan in real time based on how your body responds.

Rowena Calleja, PT
Dual MD + PT credentials · 7+ years US experience · Mon–Fri 9am–5pm
Rowena brings a rare combination of credentials to your care: a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy — giving her clinical understanding few US physical therapists can match. She earned her B.S. in Physical Therapy from De La Salle University (1997) and her MD from De La Salle University College of Medicine (2003). This dual education means she doesn’t just treat symptoms — she understands the underlying pathology, anatomy, and physiology at a physician’s depth. She is ECFMG certified, holds an active Texas Physical Therapy license, and is fluent in English and Tagalog.
7+ years of US physical therapy experience
- Arthritis Knee Pain Centers, Dallas (4.5 years) — knee osteoarthritis rehabilitation, individualized treatment, range-of-motion, strengthening, balance and gait retraining, and custom OA knee brace fitting.
- Herald Rehabilitation LLC (3 years) — chronic low back, cervical, hip, and knee pain, helping patients reduce pain medication dependence through evidence-based therapy and progressive conditioning.
- Co-Owner, PT Rehabilitation Clinic (Philippines) — co-founded and operated a rehabilitation center, supervising PT interns and treating musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Her former supervisor, Brett MacKenzie, VP of Texas Operations at Arthritis Knee Pain Centers, called her an “exceptional physical therapist” who has “consistently demonstrated professionalism, clinical excellence, and a deep commitment to patient care,” noting her “excellent patient outcomes and high levels of satisfaction.”
“Our patients don’t just get physical therapy. They get a complete recovery strategy — where every treatment works together toward one goal: getting you back to your life.” — Rowena Calleja, PT

A multi-modal approach, tailored to you
We don't rely on a single modality. Rowena selects and combines techniques based on your diagnosis, recovery phase, and functional goals — evaluating each condition from both a medical and rehabilitation perspective.
Manual therapy
Joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy — hands-on techniques that restore range of motion, break up scar tissue, and deactivate painful knots.
Therapeutic exercise & neuromuscular re-education
Progressive programs rebuild strength, restore flexibility, improve endurance, and prevent re-injury through movement pattern correction. Neuromuscular re-education retrains the brain-to-muscle communication disrupted by injury or surgery — critical for post-surgical patients, returning athletes, and neuropathy patients.
Gait training & therapeutic modalities
Gait analysis identifies asymmetries and compensations, then systematically corrects them. Evidence-based modalities — electrical stimulation (e-stim), therapeutic ultrasound, heat and cold therapy, and TENS — manage pain, reduce inflammation, and support tissue healing.
Functional movement screening
Before we treat, we assess how you move through fundamental patterns, where you have mobility restrictions or stability deficits, and which compensations contribute to your pain. This data drives your plan — so every technique targets your actual deficits, not just your symptoms.
Integrated physical therapy + orthobiologic medicine
Most PRP and BMAC patients feel good within a few days and get right back to their normal routine — a formal rehab protocol usually isn't required, and there's typically no need to take time off work or rely on pain medication. All PRP and BMAC procedures are completed the same day, in-office. When your condition does call for post-procedure rehabilitation, our integrated team provides it — precisely timed to your recovery, instead of sending you across town to a PT who has no idea what was done or when.
When post-procedure rehab isindicated, here’s how we time it to your biology — so recovery supports the treatment instead of working against it.
Protection
Gentle range-of-motion only, pain and inflammation managed with modalities. No aggressive stretching or strengthening — the treated area needs time to settle.
Progressive loading
Gradual introduction of controlled strengthening, manual therapy to maintain mobility without disrupting healing, and neuromuscular re-education to re-establish movement patterns.
Functional restoration
Sport- or activity-specific rehab, progressive resistance training, and return-to-work or return-to-sport functional testing.
Why coordination matters
When your physical therapist and orthobiologic medicine provider are in the same clinic — communicating daily, reviewing progress together, adjusting in real time — your care stays coordinated from your first visit through your return to activity. That coordination means:
- One coordinated plan — your PT and your provider share the same chart
- Rehab timed to your condition and your provider's guidance
- Real-time adjustments as your recovery progresses
- Fewer redundant appointments across separate offices
PRP, PPP, BMAC, and A2M are autologous procedures prepared from your own blood or bone marrow. They are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Individual results are not guaranteed. Any decision to pursue an orthobiologic procedure should be made with your provider after a clinical evaluation.
Workers’ compensation physical therapy in Texas
OWCP — federal employees: you have the right to choose your PT
If you’re a federal employee injured on the job — whether you work for USPS, TSA, DHS, CBP, DOD, the VA, or any other federal agency — you are entitled to choose your own physical therapy provider under the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP). You do not have to use the provider your agency recommends. Innovare Tx specializes in workers’ comp physical therapy for federal employees, and Charles Ortega, PA-C has extensive experience with CA-1 (traumatic injury) and CA-2 (occupational disease) claims.
- File your claim— submit your CA-1 or CA-2 form through ECOMP or your agency’s process.
- Choose Innovare Tx — designate us as your treating provider; no agency referral required.
- Initial evaluation — Rowena Calleja, PT conducts a comprehensive assessment.
- Treatment & documentation — we provide the progress reports, functional capacity evaluations, and medical documentation OWCP requires.
- Return to duty — our goal is getting you back to work safely, with reduced risk of re-injury.
Our workers’ compensation focus is on federal employees under OWCP. We handle the documentation, progress reports, and functional capacity evaluations your claim requires so you can focus on recovery. Learn more about OWCP care at Innovare Tx
Authorized OWCP provider

What to expect at your first visit
Bring your insurance card, photo ID, and any imaging (X-rays, MRIs) or records related to your condition. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive 15 minutes early for intake (or complete it online). Your first session is a comprehensive 60-minute evaluation — not a rushed 15-minute screen. Rowena Calleja, PT will:
- Listen to your story — onset, aggravating factors, struggles, and goals
- Perform a physical exam — range of motion, strength, flexibility, joint stability, neurological function, and functional movement
- Review imaging and history — correlating exam findings with X-rays, MRIs, or prior diagnoses, with a physician’s eye for imaging
- Develop your treatment plan — goals, frequency, estimated duration, techniques, and modalities
- Begin treatment — most patients receive hands-on care during the first visit
Ongoing sessions (45–60 minutes) include one-on-one time with your physical therapist — not a technician — manual therapy, guided exercise, modalities as needed, home exercise progression, and progress re-assessments every 4–6 visits.
