Conditions We Treat

Arthritis & joint pain care in Addison

Osteoarthritis deserves a careful, whole-picture evaluation. At Innovare Tx, we assess the worn, inflamed joint and offer conservative options — integrated physical therapy, weight and metabolic support, and autologous orthobiologic procedures — coordinating a surgical referral when it's warranted.

In short
Innovare Tx evaluates osteoarthritis of the knees, hips, shoulders, and hands and offers conservative options — integrated physical therapy, weight support, and autologous orthobiologic procedures (PRP, BMAC) — coordinated by Charles Ortega, PA-C in Addison, TX.

What is osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is the wear-and-tear form of arthritis — the most common type. Over time, the smooth cartilage that cushions a joint thins and breaks down, the joint becomes inflamed, and bones begin to rub. The result is stiffness, ache, swelling, and a slow loss of motion. It most often affects the knees, hips, shoulders, and hands, and it frequently shows up in more than one joint at once.

Common causes & risk factors

  • Age and accumulated joint use over a lifetime.
  • Prior injuries — a meniscus tear, dislocation, or fracture can set off arthritis years later.
  • Repetitive load from work, sport, or occupation.
  • Excess weight, which multiplies the force through weight-bearing joints.
  • Genetics and joint alignment that predispose certain joints to wear.

Symptoms worth evaluating

  • Stiffness that's worst in the morning or after rest
  • A deep ache that builds with activity
  • Swelling, warmth, or a feeling of fullness in the joint
  • Grinding, clicking, or reduced range of motion
  • Pain in several joints — knees, hips, shoulders, hands
  • Relief from injections that keeps wearing off

Your options at Innovare Tx

We look at the whole picture — the joints involved, your strength, and the metabolic factors around them. Options include physical therapy and weight support as well as autologous orthobiologic procedures, described below.

PRP injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets prepared from a small sample of your own blood, delivered into the joint by image-guided injection in the same visit. It is an autologous, minimally manipulated procedure we offer at Innovare Tx. Explore PRP injections

BMAC — bone marrow aspirate concentrate

BMAC is prepared from your own bone marrow. A small aspirate is drawn under local anesthetic, concentrated, and delivered by image-guided injection — an autologous, same-day procedure with no donor tissue. Learn about BMAC

Integrated physical therapy

Strong, well-balanced muscles take load off arthritic joints. Rowena Calleja, PT builds a program to restore motion, build supporting strength, and work on mechanics — standard care coordinated with the rest of your plan. See our physical therapy program

Weight & primary care support

Because excess weight and inflammation are known contributors to osteoarthritis, our family-practice and medically supervised weight-management services can address those factors as part of the same coordinated plan.

PRP, PPP, BMAC, and A2M are autologous procedures prepared from your own blood or bone marrow. They are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Individual results are not guaranteed. Any decision to pursue an orthobiologic procedure should be made with your provider after a clinical evaluation.

How candidacy is determined

  • A clinical evaluation reviews your imaging and history
  • The joints involved — knees, hips, shoulders, or hands
  • Your strength, activity goals, and overall health
  • Anyone tired of cortisone shots that wear off
  • People willing to pair care with rehab

Severe, end-stage bone-on-bone arthritis may eventually require joint replacement, and inflammatory types of arthritis are managed differently. We'll confirm your diagnosis and refer appropriately when that's the right path.

What to expect at your visit

Your first visit is a full evaluation with history, exam, and imaging review. If an orthobiologic procedure is an appropriate option, it is a same-day, in-office procedure. Your provider reviews aftercare and follow-up, and physical therapy and joint-friendly habits are part of the coordinated plan. Individual results are not guaranteed.

Why the one-roof model helps with arthritis

Arthritis rarely respects a single specialty. At Innovare Tx, your care, rehab, and the metabolic factors behind your joint pain are managed by one coordinated team in one place — so nothing falls through the cracks between separate offices.

Arthritis & joint pain FAQs

Conservative care for mild-to-moderate osteoarthritis can include a structured physical therapy program, weight and activity management, and other measures. Innovare Tx also offers autologous orthobiologic procedures — PRP and BMAC — prepared from your own blood or bone marrow. These procedures are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Severe, advanced bone-on-bone arthritis may eventually need surgery; a clinical evaluation guides the plan.
Osteoarthritis is the wear-and-tear form, where cartilage gradually breaks down — the most common type, often affecting knees, hips, shoulders, and hands. Inflammatory arthritis (such as rheumatoid) is driven by the immune system and is managed differently. We'll confirm the type during your evaluation and coordinate the appropriate care.
PRP is a concentration of platelets prepared from your own blood; BMAC (bone marrow aspirate concentrate) is prepared from your own bone marrow. Both are autologous, minimally manipulated procedures delivered by image-guided injection during the same visit. They are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition. A clinical evaluation determines whether either is an appropriate option for you.
No. PRP and BMAC are autologous procedures that are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Individual results are not guaranteed. Any decision to pursue an orthobiologic procedure should be made with your provider after a clinical evaluation, alongside standard care such as physical therapy and weight management.
We commonly evaluate osteoarthritis and joint pain in the knees, hips, shoulders, and hands, as well as smaller joints like the ankles and wrists. Because several joints are often involved at once, an integrated plan that addresses your whole picture — rather than one joint in isolation — is usually part of the discussion.
Candidacy is determined by a clinical evaluation of your imaging, the joints involved, and your overall health. Some patients choose to pair procedures with physical therapy and, when relevant, weight and metabolic support. Because these procedures are investigational, results are not guaranteed, and we'll refer for a surgical opinion when that's the right path.
Arthritis is rarely just one joint or one factor. At Innovare Tx, your care, physical therapy, and primary-care coordination happen under one roof with one provider who sees the whole picture — including weight and inflammation. That coordinated approach keeps everything aligned instead of scattered across separate offices.
