Conditions We Treat

Knee pain care in Addison & Dallas, TX

Knee arthritis, a worn meniscus, or a stubborn ligament injury deserves a careful look. At Innovare Tx in Addison, we evaluate the source of your knee pain and offer conservative options — integrated physical therapy and autologous orthobiologic procedures — coordinating surgery referral when that is the right path.

In short
Innovare Tx evaluates knee osteoarthritis, meniscus tears, and ligament injuries and offers conservative options — integrated physical therapy and autologous orthobiologic procedures (PRP, BMAC prepared from your own blood or bone marrow) — coordinated by Charles Ortega, PA-C in Addison, TX, minutes from Dallas.

Why does my knee hurt?

The knee is the largest joint in the body and one of the most heavily loaded. Every step, squat, and stair sends force through cartilage, menisci, ligaments, and tendons — so when one of those structures wears, tears, or inflames, it can make everyday movement painful. Knee pain rarely improves by ignoring it, and a proper evaluation is the first step toward understanding it.

Common causes of knee pain

  • Osteoarthritis — gradual cartilage wear that leads to stiffness, ache, grinding, and swelling. The most common cause of chronic knee pain.
  • Meniscus tears — degenerative or injury-related tears that cause catching, locking, or pain with twisting and squatting.
  • Ligament injuries — ACL, MCL, and LCL sprains or partial tears from sports or falls.
  • Tendon & overuse problems — patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee), IT band syndrome, and runner's knee.
  • Bursitis — inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joint.

Symptoms worth evaluating

If any of these sound familiar, an evaluation is worth your time:

  • Deep ache or stiffness, worse in the morning or after sitting
  • Pain with stairs, squatting, or kneeling
  • Swelling or a feeling of fullness in the joint
  • Catching, locking, or clicking with movement
  • Buckling or instability — the knee “gives out”
  • Pain that returns each time cortisone wears off

Your options at Innovare Tx

We start conservative and build a plan around what your imaging actually shows. Options include physical therapy and rehabilitation as well as autologous orthobiologic procedures, described below.

PRP injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets prepared from a small sample of your own blood, delivered by injection with image guidance in the same visit. It is an autologous, minimally manipulated procedure we offer at Innovare Tx. Explore PRP injections

BMAC — bone marrow aspirate concentrate

BMAC is prepared from your own bone marrow. A small aspirate is drawn under local anesthetic (typically from the hip), concentrated, and delivered by image-guided injection — an autologous, same-day procedure with no donor tissue. Learn about BMAC

Integrated physical therapy

Physical therapy is standard care for many knee problems. Rowena Calleja, PT builds a knee-specific rehab plan — controlled loading, mobility, and strengthening of the quads and hips — as part of your coordinated care. See our physical therapy program

Primary care that connects the dots

Because we offer family practice under the same roof, factors that contribute to knee pain — weight, inflammation, metabolic health — can be addressed as part of the same coordinated plan rather than scattered across separate offices.

PRP, PPP, BMAC, and A2M are autologous procedures prepared from your own blood or bone marrow. They are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Individual results are not guaranteed. Any decision to pursue an orthobiologic procedure should be made with your provider after a clinical evaluation.

How candidacy is determined

  • A clinical evaluation reviews your imaging and history
  • Your activity goals and overall health are considered
  • Partial meniscus tears or chronic tendon irritation are discussed
  • Anyone whose cortisone shots keep wearing off
  • Active people willing to follow a rehab plan

Patients with severe bone-on-bone arthritis, major deformity, or a complete ligament rupture may be better served by surgery — and we'll tell you so and refer you appropriately. Honesty about what each option can and can't offer is part of how we practice.

What to expect at your visit

Your first visit is an evaluation: history, exam, and a review of your X-rays or MRI. If an orthobiologic procedure is an appropriate option, it is a same-day, in-office procedure of roughly 45–60 minutes. Your provider reviews aftercare and any follow-up, and physical therapy runs alongside to work on strength and mechanics. Individual results are not guaranteed.

Why the one-roof model helps your knee

At Innovare Tx, your evaluation, any procedure, physical therapy, and follow-up all happen in one place, coordinated by one provider who knows your full health picture. No specialist-hopping. No clinic that treats and disappears. Just a plan coordinated around the structure we actually evaluated.

Understanding your options

Explore conservative care

If you're weighing your choices, physical therapy and autologous orthobiologic procedures are conservative, in-office options worth discussing. They differ from surgery in invasiveness, anesthesia, and recovery time — details we'll walk through at your evaluation.

Knee pain FAQs

Conservative care for knee pain can include activity modification and a structured physical therapy program. Innovare Tx also offers autologous orthobiologic procedures — PRP and BMAC — prepared from your own blood or bone marrow and delivered with image guidance. These procedures are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition. Whether any option fits you is determined by a clinical evaluation, and some cases — such as complete ligament tears — may be referred for a surgical opinion.
Common causes include osteoarthritis (cartilage wear), meniscus tears, ligament injuries (ACL, MCL), patellar tendinitis, IT band syndrome, and bursitis. Age, prior injury, repetitive load, and being overweight all increase risk. A proper evaluation with history, exam, and imaging is the way to identify the likely source and guide an appropriate plan.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelet fraction, and delivered by injection with ultrasound or fluoroscopy guidance — all in the same visit. It is an autologous, minimally manipulated procedure. It is considered investigational and is not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis.
BMAC (bone marrow aspirate concentrate) is prepared from your own bone marrow rather than your blood. A small aspirate is drawn under local anesthetic, typically from the hip, concentrated, and delivered by image-guided injection during the same appointment. Like PRP, it is autologous and minimally manipulated. Charles Ortega, PA-C reviews your imaging and goals to discuss which procedure, if any, is appropriate for you.
Candidacy is determined by a clinical evaluation of your imaging, activity goals, and overall health. Because these procedures are investigational, results are not guaranteed. Patients with severe deformity, complete ligament rupture, or advanced bone-on-bone arthritis may be better served by surgery — and we will refer appropriately when that is the right call.
You rest briefly and go home the same day; there is no hospital stay. Your provider reviews aftercare and any follow-up, and physical therapy is often coordinated alongside to work on strength and mechanics around the knee. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
At Innovare Tx, your evaluation, any orthobiologic procedure, physical therapy, and primary-care coordination happen under one roof with one provider who knows your full picture. That means no specialist-hopping and a rehab plan coordinated with the rest of your care.
