Sports injury care & return-to-sport in Addison
A sprain, a strained tendon, or a nagging overuse injury deserves a careful evaluation. At Innovare Tx, we assess the injury and offer conservative options — integrated sports physical therapy and autologous orthobiologic procedures — building a smart, criteria-based return to the activity you love.
Getting back to what you love — the right way
Whether you're a competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, a sports injury is frustrating in the same way: it stops you from doing what you love. The temptation is to either push through the pain or rush back too soon — and both tend to turn a manageable injury into a chronic one. A better path evaluates the injured tissue, then rebuilds it methodically before you return to play.
Common sports injuries we evaluate
- Ligament sprains — ankle sprains, MCL and LCL injuries.
- Muscle strains & tears — hamstring, quad, and calf injuries.
- Tendon injuries — Achilles tendinitis, tennis and golfer's elbow, patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee).
- Partial rotator cuff tears from throwing, swimming, or overhead sport.
- Overuse conditions — runner's knee, IT band syndrome, shin splints.
Symptoms worth evaluating
- Pain that lingers beyond normal post-activity soreness
- Swelling, bruising, or a “pop” at the time of injury
- Weakness or instability in a joint
- Pain that returns every time you resume activity
- Stiffness or lost range of motion after an injury
- An overuse ache that won't settle with rest alone
Your options at Innovare Tx
We pair sports-specific rehabilitation with autologous orthobiologic procedures where they fit — the coordinated combination that supports your recovery and the strength you need to return safely.
PRP injections
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets prepared from a small sample of your own blood, delivered to the target tendon, ligament, or joint by image-guided injection in the same visit. It is an autologous, minimally manipulated procedure we offer at Innovare Tx. Explore PRP injections
BMAC — bone marrow aspirate concentrate
BMAC is prepared from your own bone marrow. A small aspirate is drawn under local anesthetic, concentrated, and delivered by image-guided injection — an autologous, same-day procedure with no donor tissue. Learn about BMAC
Integrated sports physical therapy
Returning to sport is a process, not a date on the calendar. Rowena Calleja, PT builds a criteria-based plan — restoring mobility, rebuilding sport-specific strength and power, and testing readiness — so you come back prepared, not just pain-free. See our physical therapy program
PRP, PPP, BMAC, and A2M are autologous procedures prepared from your own blood or bone marrow. They are considered investigational and are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis. Individual results are not guaranteed. Any decision to pursue an orthobiologic procedure should be made with your provider after a clinical evaluation.
How candidacy is determined
- A clinical evaluation reviews the injury and imaging
- Sprains and partial ligament injuries are discussed
- Muscle strains and tears are assessed
- Tendinopathy and overuse injuries that won't settle
- Athletes and active people of every level
Complete ligament ruptures or major structural tears may require a surgical opinion. After evaluating your injury, we'll tell you honestly which approach fits and refer you when surgery is warranted.
What to expect at your visit
Your first visit is an evaluation: history, exam, and imaging review. Acute injuries may need initial protection and rest before any procedure; once the tissue is ready, an orthobiologic procedure — when appropriate — is a same-day, in-office procedure. Sports physical therapy runs alongside, and your return to activity progresses as you hit strength and stability milestones, not arbitrary deadlines. Individual results are not guaranteed.
Why the one-roof model helps your comeback
The clinics that treat and disappear leave the hardest part — the return to sport — to chance. At Innovare Tx, your care and your rehab are coordinated by the same team in the same place, so your therapy matches your evaluation and your comeback is built on measured readiness.

Come back prepared, not rushed
Any orthobiologic procedure is coordinated with criteria-based sports physical therapy that rebuilds the strength, power, and stability you need before you step back on the field or court.
